Chairman's Message Christmas 2007

Message from the Chairman - December 2007

I hope you will agree that once again we had a successful Show with an increased attendance of packs showing, supporters and general public.

The South of England Hound Show has always had and continues to have, a reputation as a friendly and welcoming show to all its visitors and it is important that we keep this going as the interest from the non hunting public continues to increase.

Although it is the first major Hound Show of the summer, which may deter some packs from showing, the Committee feel that is very important that the numbers of packs showing do not drop. I will again be reminding you all when the schedules are sent out!! Please ask your fellow Masters and friends to support the Hound Show by becoming Vice Presidents. A Vice President's subscription offers tremendous value with admission and car parking for all three days of the South of England Show with all its attractions.

The Hound Show now has a website, www.soehoundshow.co.uk  ably set up and managed by Nick Onslow and kindly sponsored by Norman Bryant. If anyone would like a link on the site, this can be arranged (please contact Viki). Hopefully all up to date news will be available as it occurs so please make it one of your regular sites to visit!

This year sadly saw Liz Watters retire from the Committee after many years of valuable service.  She has promised to continue in a consultant role if required and I am sure we will need to 'bother' her occasionally! Andrew Coveney MFH has been welcomed onto the Committee and I am sure will be an asset to the Show.

Due to changes in the catering arrangements, seated lunches in the hut will only be available by invitation or ticket from the Secretary prior to the Show. Hunt staff for each pack of hounds entering the Show will be allocated two packed lunches. Further lunch details and application forms for tickets will be sent out with the schedules or in a separate mailing in the spring.

The Accounts show that we continue to operate within a tight budget and that all our Sponsors are invaluable to us in keeping the Show running. Thank you to all of you for your support. We are always looking for more Sponsors so that we can carry out running repairs to the Hound Show area and maintain a quality Show, so if anyone has a potential Sponsor in mind please let Viki or me know. On the subject of accounts, I would like to thank Robin Barber for his continued support, patience and advice in compiling our accounts.

As always, I would like to thank all those who help with the Show before, on the day or clearing up after the event. We could not manage without your assistance.
